Tottenham Bolster Their Squad with New Players

Tottenham Hotspur are taking full advantage of the transfer period by signing a series of top-class players.

The Spurs announced via their website the official signing of Italian goalkeeper, Guglielmo Vicario, from Serie A side Empoli on Tuesday, 27 June. The 26-year-old has agreed to a five-year deal worth an initial £17.2 million.

“Yes, I’m excited,” Vicario said in the announcement. “It’s a dream for me to be here, [with] one of the biggest teams in England and in the [English] Premier League.”

The Italian shot-stopper will join new signee, Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski, who came over from Juventus earlier this month, on 17 June, for a reduced fee of £25 million.

However, Vicario isn’t the only target for the British club this week as they push to secure a strong team. According to reports, Leicester City midfielder James Maddison will have a medical check-up at Tottenham Stadium in London, England today, Wednesday 28 June.

Maddison – who is said to be valued at £60 million but may only sell for £40 million – currently has one year left on his contract with his relegated club. Newcastle were previously also linked with the 26-year-old English star but have reportedly shifted their attention to AC Milan’s Sandro Tonali, opening the bidding path for the Spurs.
